The Board of Advisors has well over 350 years of combined experience in all aspects of the criminal justice system. Our advisory team operates so that each case, no matter the division, has extremely skilled professionals lending their knowledge and expertise to our clients, advocating on their behalf. Our dedicated team of professionals includes our staff attorney, paralegals, advocates, mitigation specialists and even a few people who have served a term of incarceration in a Federal or State prison. We are the only company of its kind and our roots go back to 1985.
Ms. Gardner is the Chairwoman of our Board of Advisors and is a member of our Executive Staff. Ms. Gardner assists in high-profile case strategies within all of our divisions. She is Co-Founder and former Chief Consultant of Federal Prison Consultants, our flagship division. Cindy has been zealously advocating for federal and state defendants and inmates for over 20 years.
Rebecca Tamez is President of Justice Solutions of America, Inc. and is a Special BOP Advisor on our Board of Advisors. Becky joins Justice Solutions of America, Inc., following a 32 year career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Becky’s career put her at the forefront of emerging BOP policy and practice. In the area of sentence computation and designation she created, developed and implemented new policies and procedures resulting in the establishment of the Designation and Sentence Computation Center in Grand Prairie, Texas where she served as its first Director. Following that assignment she was promoted to the position of Warden at FCI Ft. Worth where she concluded her career with the BOP. During her career Becky worked at eight (8) different facilities to include male and female facilities Becky brings her knowledge in the areas of sentence computations and designations as well as institution administration to the clients of Justice Solutions of America and its divisions. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Julie Prescott is a Senior Federal and State Prison Advisor on our Board of Advisors, is Vice President of Justice Solutions of America, Inc. and is a member of our Executive Staff. After a 24 year career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Julie's knowledge and experience spans her responsibilities as a Case Manager, Disciplinary Hearing Officer, and Case Management Coordinator in a Federal Correction Institution and a Federal Medical Center. She has expert knowledge in classification and designation issues, compassionate release/reduction in sentence, inmate discipline, residential reentry center/home confinement, mental health commitments and administrative remedies. Julie has been advocating for federal and state inmates with Justice Solutions of America, Inc. for more than 5 years.
John Irwin is a Senior Federal and State Prison Advisor on our Board of Advisors and is a member of our Executive Staff. He is an expert in the area of federal and state prisoner reentry. John's professional career has been devoted to assisting those that have been incarcerated effectively and successfully reenter the community and live productive and meaningful lives.
John's tireless efforts while employed by the Arizona Department of Corrections and the Colorado Department of Corrections was to assist countless men and women throughout his professional career. He has done extensive research in the area of recidivism and has shared his knowledge and expertise in various publications. John brings his commitment to helping others build better lives to the clients of State Prison Advocates
Shakeerah Hameen is a Senior Federal and State Prison Advisor on our Board of Advisors and is a member of our Executive Staff. Shakeerah has more than 15 years of experience with Justice Solutions of America, Inc. In addition to her federal and state prison advocacy experience of over 30 years, Shakeerah's expertise spans the areas of sentencing mitigation, parole, pardons and sentence commutations. She is responsible for these services within several of our divisions.
Peter Curcio is a Senior Federal, State and County Jail Advisor on our Board of Advisors and is a member of our Executive Staff. Pete served 25 years with the New York City Department of Corrections at Riker's Island and rose to the position of second highest in the Chain of Command. After his retirement with the New York City Department of Corrections, Pete became a corrections consultant with the United States Department of Justice and has been training Federal, State and County level Senior Corrections Executives all across the Country. Training all levels of government, in positions such as Correctional Wardens, Correctional Superintendents and other Senior Level Corrections Executives, gives Pete hands-on contact and insight into Federal, State and Local County Correctional Institutions. Pete has been on staff for several years as a Senior Technical Advisor for several divisions of Justice Solutions of America, Inc.
John Gaither is a Special BOP Advisor and a member of our Board of Advisors. He joins Federal Prison Consultants after 35 years of exemplary service with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. John's expertise includes the management and operation of Residential Reentry Centers, and liaison with the US Marshals Service, FBI, US Probation and the Federal Courts. He has worked with the senior leadership of the Federal Bureau of Prisons in developing and executing policy and programs that directly impact incarcerated persons.
Dr. Reginald Wilkinson is a State Prison Advocate and serves as member of our Board of Advisors. He began his career with the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) in September 1973. Dr. Wilkinson served in a variety of positions including superintendent of the Corrections Training Academy, Warden of the Dayton Correctional Institution, and Deputy Director of Prisons - South Region. In 1991, he was appointed Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, a position he held until his retirement in 2006. He has since joined our staff and is a State Prison Advocate, specializing in client cases related to the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC).
Dr. Bill Sondervan is a State Prison Advocate and serves as member of our Board of Advisors. He served as the Commissioner of the Maryland Division of Correction from 1999 to 2003, and Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner from 1994-1998. The Maryland Division of Correction (DOC) is the largest criminal justice agency in Maryland comprised of 27 institutions, with 24,000 inmates. His extensive responsibilities included prison management, internal affairs, and the inmate disciplinary process. Bill has been recognized throughout his military and professional career for excellence in management, mentoring, and training. He has since joined our staff as a State Prison Advocate, specializing in client cases related to the Maryland Division of Correction.
Robert Warney is a Federal Prison Advocate and on our Board of Advisors. Rob was the director of the Planning, Engineering and Inspection Department for one of the largest towns in New Jersey. His other work experience included being a financial advisor for more than fifteen years and serving as a Vice President at a Fortune 500 Company.
Rob is co-author of Ties-2-Stripes, a systematic, practical and realistic guide book on how to prepare for federal prison, adjust to federal prison life and prepare for release from federal prison. Rob shares his actual experiences going through the process himself and can help you develop an individual plan to successfully get you through the process in the least amount of time.
A graduate of the University of Georgia (2007 A.B. Political Science) and Florida Coastal School of Law (2012 J.D. Law), Melvina Kemp is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, the oldest of twelve children. She is a member of the Florida Bar Association and has practiced law in the areas of Criminal, Family, Immigration and Tax Law.
Dr. Jerry Smith is Director of our BOP RDAP Consultants division and our BOP RDAP Psychologist website. He is a 20 year veteran with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, serving as a Clinical Psychologist and a Drug Abuse Treatment Coordinator for the Federal Bureau of Prison's highly regarded Residential Drug Abuse Program informally know as the RDAP Program. Jerry brings with him many years of experience and services as a BOP RDAP Expert for all of our divisions. He is an expert in correctional management, personnel management and corporate leadership, crisis communication and conflict resolution and behavioral analysis. He holds Doctoral and Master's degrees in Clinical Psychology and Professional Counseling.
Rev. Jacques Weston is Director of Religious Services for Justice Solutions of America, Inc. He is also a special religious advisor to all divisions of our Corporation. Rev. Weston’s background spans 24 years of experience in all facets of ministerial function and responsibilities to include outreach services, community involvement and development, church expansion, counseling and chaplain ministry.
